The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy The Gambia has announced the launch of the 2022 Licensing Round for Block A1 an offshore block in The Gambia.

The launch of the 2022 Licensing Round for Block A1 an offshore block in The Gambia, is a golden opportunity for discerning investors, who have been waiting, to gain entry into The Gambia’s value laden oil and gas industry rife with largely virgin opportunities.

In order to explore and produce hydrocarbons in The Gambia, Successful Bidder(s) are required to enter into a PEPLA. The rights and obligations of the Successful Bidder and the Ministry shall be governed by the terms set out in the PEPLA (which shall be in substantially the same form as the Model PEPLA) and the statutory obligations under the Petroleum Act and Supporting Legislation.

Prospective bidders are invited to register their interest with the Petroleum Commission. However, with great opportunity comes great risk, as The Gambia is looking for its first commercial discovery of oil.
